New Directors Join C21

Community 21 is delighted to welcome new Directors Michael Raper and Peter McNamara to its Board. Both appointees bring strong experience in governance, management and finance, and high level expertise gained from decades of senior-level employment in the not-for-profit sector.

Michael Raper
Appointed in 2016, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from the NFP sector to the C21 Board. He has served on, and been President of, ACOSS, the Mandela Foundation of Australia, the National Welfare Rights Network, the International Council on Social Welfare and the Independent Education Union.
As the former Director of Services and International Operations for the Australian Red Cross and Director of the Welfare Rights Centre, he is well positioned to advise the Community 21 Board on pertinent issues relating to the sector, particularly in the areas of human rights and social services. His qualifications include BA Dip Ed and Dip L Law, and he is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Peter McNamara
Appointed in 2016, Peter brings a strong governance background to the C21 Board with qualifications from Harvard Business School in Finance and Melbourne Business School in Social Impact and Governance. As well as having over 15 years’ experience in senior management in the NFP and corporate sectors, Peter has been on Boards and Board committees for Audit & Risk, HR, Fundraising and Public Policy. Peter has a very solid understanding of the challenges of the NFP sector having overseen the accreditation, quality assurance, compliance, funding, learning and development of 250 NFP organisations across 650 national sites. Currently overseeing $230 million worth of private and government contracts, Peter brings strong finance expertise to the C21 Board. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
